Here’s the original recipe plus several alterations I’ve made with different pens over the years of making this particular treat.
It comes from a Company’s Coming squares cookbook that I’ve had for years.
This iteration, I skipped the lemon juice since I was without any, and used the dregs of two jams in the house, blueberry and raspberry, and then threw raisins in because you can’t go wrong with raisins and I will stand by that comment in the face of every walnut lover.
Blachgh! Walnuts!
I also ignored the “sprinkling” instructions of extra ingredients for a special topping. It was so bouncy and sweet and delicious, it required no extra treatment upon delivery from the oven. This is a really great bar.
