My brain’s offline

I took the weekend off from posting and can’t get the head in action to be interested in any blogging today. At least, nothing on a topic of interest.

I went to Sucker Punch with friends Friday night. It was an odd movie and coming out of it I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not. Stylish, fun action, nice soundtrack, but overall, not really anything overly memorable. I agree with this reviewer even though I don’t have any gonads.

Saturday I farted around watching season 5 of the new Doctor Who finally. Is it just me, or did the chemistry seem to be acted rather than felt? At least with David Tennant and Catherine Tate (series 4 was my fave) there was a believable click between the Doctor and his companion. It was hard to buy the romance between Amy and Rory, too. None of it felt sincere — that might be the way to put it.

After I finished that, I tried another completely insincere romance story, The Proposal starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. I’m glad films are free at the library. While You Were Sleeping was just as daft but at least it had more likeable characters.

For a chunk of Sunday I played this typing game I’m hooked on called Clockwords. Mechanical spiders are sent towards your machine intent on stealing the secret plans for making the machine..which was apparently designed to destroy mechanical spiders before there was even a need to do so. Talk about forward thinking. Anyway, it’s a vocabulary challenge, especially when faced with an arsenal of letters like Q,X,Z,I,K,P sitting there ready to launch. But you can use dictionary.com’s word of the day for extra power. Assuming you can type it fast enough to do maximum damage…

I got my act together by the afternoon, though, and headed over to the Affairs of the Art fund-raising auction put on by the Sexual Health Centre of Saskatoon. I don’t know what the final total was for the day but one piece went for $4100. Funds raised yesterday will benefit the Centre for the next two years. I volunteered this year and got to wander around with someone’s camera for a while, then gave them a hand wrapping all that art. Hopefully it all got away okay. It’d suck to spend that kind of money on something and then have an accident.

Back on track tomorrow, hopefully.

edit 10:30am — My brain is really offline. I completely forgot about what I did Saturday night, namely attend a birthday party, have my first ever limo ride and lose $44 at the casino.

I didn’t buy the romance either until I watched “Amy’s Choice” probably one of my favourite episodes. Also … wait I don’t know how far you are in the season.
