Too many denominations spoil the church

I’ve written about the Church of the Holy Sepulchre before but this news story tops the church repair woes:

Israeli police have had to restore order at one of Christianity’s holiest sites after a mass brawl broke out between monks in Jerusalem’s Old City.

Fighting erupted between Greek Orthodox and Armenian monks at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the traditional site of Christ’s crucifixion.

Two monks from each side were detained as dozens of worshippers traded kicks and punches at the shrine, said police.

Trouble flared as Armenians prepared to mark the annual Feast of the Cross.

The video of it is almost beyond belief. It looks like rival football fans having a tussle but it’s the monks fighting over who gets to be in the church. If Armenians are using it for this Feast, the Greeks have to stay out of it. But the Greeks wanted to keep a guardian in the building, specifically in the area considered to be the tomb of Jesus. Armenians had a bit of a problem with that, and whammo slammo.

It’s worse than a divorce. At least then there’s the option to sell the property and split the money.

Why is it that no one can agree on the True Christianity? Every offshoot puts a new spin on it. Is there any Truth left? Was there ever? Even Christ was just revamping Judaism, right? Trying to put His own spin on the old world thought process? Paul bounces some more ideas in his head and goes another way. Constantine does his part for political gain. And those Council of Nicea dudes play one round of 66 Pick-Up and then everyone agrees to play Jesus Says until End of Days but everyone makes up different rules depending on where and when they’re gonna play it like a holy game of fucking Fizzbin.

And they wonder why people don’t want to play with them anymore.
