It’s not crystal clear at Crystal Cathedral…

… what’s leading to Robert A. Schuller’s quiet resignation from the church his father was the face of for nearly three decades but it seems to have something to do with different visions of direction.

The older Schuller said he felt called by God to build bridges between Crystal Cathedral Ministries and other powerful ministries and wanted his listeners and followers to hear other “amazing preachers,” including Bill Hybels of Willow Creek Community Church and Kirbyjon Caldwell of Windsor Village United Methodist Church.

But the vision to expand the program beyond a single personality in order to reach a broader audience strained relations between Schuller and his son, who disagreed with the move.

“For this lack of shared vision and the jeopardy in which this is placing this entire ministry, it has become necessary for Robert and me to part ways in the Hour of Power television ministry to each pursue our own unique God-ordained visions,” the older Schuller said in a statement on Oct. 28.

According to Crystal Cathedral, the younger Schuller is expected to announce his new ministry plans “soon” and the Garden Grove, Calif., church has begun the search for a new senior pastor.

Rob H. wants to dole out shares of the evangelical pie and his son doesn’t, by the looks of things. Rob A. doesn’t want to share his part of the glory that is the lord with his peers so left in a bit of a snit to play with Jesus all by himself.

If Christian groups won’t work together in harmony, they can hardly say that it’s part of God’s plan for man and expect the rest of us to take them seriously. I think there needs to be a bit more practicing of the preaching here.

I am sickened that Robert A. Schuller is not longer apart of the Hour of Power. I do not watch the Hour of Power anymore and will not until Robert A. comes back!! I have been watching for 15 years. Robert A is an outstanding, bright, intelligent Preacher of the Word of God. I am praying Dr. Robert H. Schuller will realize this and know that the furture growth of the Hour of Power and Cryatal Cathedral will only happen when Robert A returns…along with Rober V. who is young and will bring the younger generation into this ministry. How could RobertH. not be proud of this. I would hope if Robert A. does not return that he will build another ministry that I will totally support. Thank you

I’m not sure why I got thanked here. If I ever watched HoP as a kid it was because the other channel had something even worse on or a show I liked better was about to start, like Simon and Simon or Airwolf.
