Oh, good gravy. I guess that means I should participate. It’s my very first official invite (saving blogrolls) after all.
Okay, so these are the rules as listed by Heather at Why Don’t You Blog?
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random, arbitrary things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
5. Let each person know they’ve been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.
Random arbitrariness. Easy peasy. Maybe.
1. I think laying in bed past 8 in the morning smacks of supreme laziness. I also think it’s perfectly okay to get up at six and go back to bed at 9 for a nap. Nobody said I had to be logical. My dad’s fond of saying, “I get up early so I have a longer day to rest,” and it’s fair to say I agree with the sentiment more and more as I get older.
2. I like Victorian art, especially decoupage. I have a cat calendar done in that style and I keep it on the wall every year just to show off the art in it. It’ll be accurate again in 2011.
3. I’d do more crafts if it weren’t for the fact that I like the internet, books and movies too much to give up some of that time for creative pursuits. I’ve got a huge assortment of cross stitch patterns that I know would look great once completed but I never get around to starting any of them. Or restarting, more like. I have one of a cat on a quilt that I got as a gift back in university.. um.. 14 years ago now. Eventually I’d like to hang it up with the rest of my cat stuff, but first I have to actually do it.
4. I like the colour blue. Crayola had the best blue crayon. I nearly wore out a whole midnight blue crayon on one page of a Sesame Street colouring book because Ernie was standing with an umbrella in a rainstorm. Every drop had to be midnight blue. I don’t know why I remember that. It wasn’t like I did that yesterday. I think I might have been eight at the time.
5. I would rather listen to jukebox hits than much of what passes for music today. I love Motown, I love goofy novelty hits and surfer tunes. Anything from the 1940s to the mid 1960s is guaranteed to be in my playlist. I’m also nutty for cocktail lounge music and heartily recommend the CDs in the Ultra Lounge series – especially Space Capades and Bongoland. You won’t be disappointed.
6. I like taking pictures of stuff and would like to get better at doing that. I’ve got a few pics up at flickr if anyone wants to browse through. I don’t update as often as most people, though. I’m picky about what I include in there. I don’t think the whole world needs to see the whole me.
Okay, that’s the six random things about moi. Now who’d be sporting enough to play along… They’re under no obligation to participate, right? They can freely ignore my tag as if they’re offsides and out of play.
I don’t feel like I know anyone well enough to pester them but what the hey. Heather didn’t know me from a hole in the ground either. So, go on, get on with it…
Mike’s Weekly Skeptic Blog which I don’t read every week but is entertaining when I do.
A Man Said to the Universe – which I admit I’ve just picked without ever reading. However, I recognized the title and who it came from because it’s been a favourite quote of mine for 20 years (as evidenced by my grade 8 poetry journal where I wrote it down). Perhaps this blog will become a favourite, too.
Respectful Insolence because Orac mentions the meteor that went over Saskatoon. I totally missed it and I kind of regret it now, so thanks for posting the videos about that.
Cosmic Connie will also get a comment from me. Her approach to new age woo business is always entertaining.
I’ll also tag Bing at Happy Jihad’s House of Pancakes. I get a kick out of the Finding Jihad posts. People really are weird animals.
Last, perhaps Michelle at Because No One Asked because it’s worth giving a shout to a local.
And, those tagged will find notes in the blogs momentarily, as will the one who tagged me.
This took a lot longer than I thought it would. Thanks for inviting me to play along, though. Cheers.
